The Program encompasses the work, projects, and services of two departments - the O'Neill Library Preservation Department and the John J. Burns Library Preservation Department.
Staff of the Preservation Program have expertise in book repair, rare book and paper conservation, proper housing and handling, exhibit preparation, condition assessment, contract management, disaster response and recovery, environmental monitoring, microfilming, digitizing, staff education and training, preservation management, and preservation planning.
Facilities of the Preservation Program include two fully equipped conservation laboratories, a bindery, and an end-processing unit.
