Post-Conference Excursions

The Original Boston Shoreline, A Walking Tour
Time: 9am-1pm (approximate)
This excursion is full; no late registrations
will be accepted.
The tour starts at 9 AM at the Old State House
next to the National Park Service Visitor Center in Boston.
Directions from MIT by subway:
Take the Red Line inbound to downtown Boston (any train to Ashmont or Braintree). Get
off at the DOWNTOWN CROSSING station (the third stop after Kendall Square). Go
right and then up the escalator to the platform for the Orange Line towards
OAK GROVE. Take the Orange Line to the next stop, STATE STREET. Take
the escalator and stairs up to State Street. Leave on the right side
of the building, which is the Old State House. You should see the National
Park Service Visitor Center. We will gather at the benches there.

Michael Noga, the MIT Science Library Collection Manager.
Harvard University Library Tours
The following libraries will offer tours for NAAUG participants: Countway Library of Medicine, Harvard Law School Library, Harvard-Yenching Library, Widener Library, and Harvard College Library Technical Services Department. Times, directions, and registration information.
Whale Watch
Time: 8am-1:30pm
Registration is closed.
We will meet at 8:00am in front of the MIT
Coop in Kendall Square and travel by public transportation
to the New England Aquarium where we will board the boat.
Temperatures are generally 15 degrees cooler out on the water. Wear
or bring:
- A waterproof poncho or raincoat and layered clothing
- Rubber soled shoes (ABSOLUTELY NO HEELS)
- Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
- Cameras
Food is not included in the ticket price. There is a galley
on board serving a variety of food and drinks. You may
bring your own food but glass bottles and alcohol are not permitted
on board.
If you are prone to motion sickness, you should obtain medication and
take it according to the directions. Motion sickness medications are available
over the counter but are not available on board. |
