Both Cambridge and Boston are full restaurants to please almost every taste. Restaurant information along with reviews is available at Boston.com and the Boston Phoenix.

» Harvard Square

There are so many places to eat in and around the Square, here are a just few suggestions:

Café of India, 52A Brattle Street, 617-661-o683
Serves conventional Indian food; the lunch buffet is $6.95; moderately priced dinner entrees.

Campo di Fiore, in the Holyoke Street Arcade, 617-354-3805
An inexpensively priced take out counter, serves pizza, soups and salads; open for lunch and good for a light dinner.

Casablanca, 40 Brattle Street, 617-876-0999
A moderate priced Mediterranean restaurant, open for lunch and dinner.

Finale, 30 Dunster Street, 617-441-9797
Serves an outstanding selection of desserts baked in-house.

Forest Café, 1682 Massachusetts Ave (a few blocks north of Harvard Square), 617-661-7810
Inexpensive Mexican/Tex-Mex cuisine; dinner served everyday, open for lunch Thursday and Friday only.

Grafton Street Grill & Pub, 1230 Massachusetts Ave. (at Bow St.), 617-497-0400
Offers pub food at moderate prices with good selection of beer; open late (2:30am).

Harvest Restaurant, 44 Brattle Street, 617-868-2255
A moderately to higher-priced restaurant with an emphasis on New England food; menu changes weekly.

Henrietta's Table in Charles Hotel, 1 Bennett Street, Harvard Square, Cambridge, 617-661-5005
American fare, served simply at moderate prices. The Sunday brunch is impressive, if a bit pricey at $42.

Red House, 98 Winthrop Street, Cambridge; 617-576-0605
A cozy bistro type setting for Mediterranean inspired food. Serves half and full plate entrees at moderate prices.

Redline, 59 JFK Street, 617-491-9851
Serves primarily American food at moderate prices. Good spot for lunch or dinner.

Temple Bar, 1688 Mass. Ave (a few blocks north or Harvard Square) 617-547-5055
A favorite of those studying and working in Harvard Square, the place looks and feels upscale, even though prices are moderate. The extensive menu has been described as Eclectic/New American.

Veggie Planet, 47 Palmer Street, (located in Passim's, a long-time folk club) , 617-661-1513
A vegetarian restaurant offering good salads, light meals, and pizza.

West Side Lounge, 1680 Mass. Ave. Ave (a few blocks north or Harvard Square), 617-441-5566
Serves an American/Mediterranean menu in a bistro atmosphere at moderate prices.

Miracle of Science, 321 Mass Ave, 617-868-2866.
Pub food in a techno-chic atmosphere; serves fabulous burgers and great grilled skewers with unique condiments.

Asgard Pub, 350 Mass. Ave., 617-577-9100
A pub/restaurant serving Irish-influenced American food at reasonable prices.

» Kendall Square

In addition to the hotel restaurants, a few other selected options for dining in the Kendall Square area are listed:

Food Court on Main Street (adjacent to the MIT Coop and the Marriott Hotel) contains a variety of inexpensive take out food options. It's very popular at lunch; seating both indoor and out.

Legal Seafood, 5 Cambridge Center Corner of 6th and Main Street, 617-864-3400
One location of a local chain of seafood restaurants (another is located in Harvard Square), their specialty is serving the freshest of local fish, non-seafood selections are available. And good wine list accompanies the menu.

Rebecca's Café, 290 Main Street , 617- 494-6688
Sandwiches, salads, and light luncheon fare make it a good option for lunch at reasonable prices; dine in or take out.

Ristorante Florentina, 143 Main Street (a few blocks out of Kendall towards the river), 617- 577-8300.
Serves a variety of Northern Italian cuisine for lunch including good caesar salads and red sauces.
