- Title: Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities Collection,
1938-1989, (bulk 1970-1989)
Description: 36 linear ft. (36 boxes)
Finding aids: Inventories available. Folder level control.
Summary: Consists of official records of the AJCU. Includes many
publications relating to the association and its
institutional members. There are also reports, meeting
minutes, correspondence, financial records and photographs.
Also includes records of the Jesuit Association of Student
Personnel Administrators, a sub-division of the AJCU.
Biog/Hist Note: Educational organization. The Association of Jesuit Colleges
and Universities was founded in 1970. It represents member
institutions, assists them in educational initiatives and provides information and programs to articulate the mission of Jesuit higher education.

- Title: Robert Bellarmine Letter, 1598 February 5
Description: 1 item (1 leaf) ; 28 cm.
Summary: Autographed letter signed from Bellarmine to Cardinal
Bartoletto Burratti, referring to earlier letters, offering
consolation amidst difficulties and sending further
assurances of support.
Biog/Hist Note: Italian Jesuit. Bellarmine was born in Tuscany and joined the Society of Jesus in 1560. He taught theology at Louvain and
then in the Roman College. In 1594 he was appointed Pope Clement XIII's theologian. He was elevated to the rank of Cardinal in 1599 and briefly served as archbishop of Capua. A great Catholic apologist during the Counter Reformation, Bellarmine was canonized in 1930 and declared a Doctor of
the Church in 1931.

- Title: Francis Borgia Letter, 1557 November 1
Description: 1 item (2 leaves) ; 30 cm.
Summary: Autographed letter signed, from Borgia to Queen Catherine of Portugal. Concerns church matters.
Biog/Hist Note: Spanish Jesuit. of noble birth, Borgia in early life assisted at the court of Charles V, and eventually succeeded to the
dukedom of Gandra. In 1548 he joined the Society of Jesus
and helped establish numerous institutions. He was elected
Father General of the Order in 1565. Borgia was canonized in 1671.

- Title: Jean Danielou Collection, 1973-1977.
Description: .5 linear ft. (1 box).
Notes: Most items in French, some in English or Italian.
Summary: Composed mainly of newspaper clippings about Danielou. Also includes publications and letters about him, as well as a
photograph reproduction.
Biog/Hist Note: French Jesuit and cardinal. Danielou was a patristic scholar who edited the French theological review ETUDES and was a
member of the French Academy. He was named a cardinal in
1969. Danielou died in 1974.

Title: Francis Xavier Letter, 1552 January 31.
Description: 1 item (3 leaves); 29 cm.
Summary: Letter written to King John III of Portugal from India,
referring to Portuguese subjects in the Far East, whom the
Saint commends for reward and recognition. Includes
references to Fernoao Mendes Pinto, the famous traveller and
writer.
Biog/Hist. Note:
Spanish Jesuit. Francis Xavier was born in Navarre and studied
at the University of Paris, where he met Ignatius of Loyola. He joined the Company of Jesus and at the request of King
John III of Portugal, prepared to work in the missions of
India. Francis Xavier visited India, Malaya and Japan
before his death.

- Title: Jesuit Educational Association Collection, 1911-1979, (bulk 1936-1970)
Description: 70 linear ft.
Finding aids: Partial listing available. Folder level control.
Summary: Consists mainly of official records of the JEA. There are
reports, publications, meeting minutes, photographs,
financial records and correspondence produced by the JEA and
its officers. Also includes publications and other material
about Jesuit education. Much of the collection concerns the
work of the association in the various Jesuit provinces in
the United States. Also includes records of the Jesuit
Alumni Administrators organization.
Biog/Hist Note: Educational organization. The Jesuit Educational Association was founded in 1936 to promote and coordinate Jesuit educational activities in the United States. In 1970 the
association was dissolved.

Title: Mariana Islands Collection, [1678?]-[1687?]
Description: 9 items.

Arrangement: Arranged chronologically.
Summary: Consists mainly of letters of Jesuits, dealing with missionary activity in the islands, to Maria de Guadalupe de Lencastre.

Title: Mark McNeal Family Correspondence, 1884 - [1947?]

Arrangement: Arranged chronologically.
Summary: Consists mainly of letters to and from McNeal and his sister, Stella. Many of the correspondents are Catholic priests.
Biog/Hist. Note: Jesuit scholar, lecturer and missionary. McNeal was born in 1874 and grew up in Indiana. He attended Georgetown and
then entered the Maryland - New York Province of the Society
of Jesus. McNeal volunteered for Sophia University in
Japan, and raised funds in its behalf. He also taught in
Manilla and New York before his death in 1934.

- Title: Agnes C. Storer Scrapbook, 1883-1920
Description: 1 v.
Summary: Consists of correspondence, photographs, cards, newspaper
clippings and a drawing. The material relates to Jesuit
priests or Jesuit institutions, primarily in the United
States. Also includes two letters to Dr. Horatio Storer.
Biog/Hist Note: Collector. Agnes Storer was the daughter of Dr. Horatio
Robinson Storer (1830-1922), a pioneer surgeon, civic leader
and convert to Catholicism.
