ISPRC

Institute for the Study and Promotion of Race and Culture

Welcome

The Institute for the Study and Promotion of Race and Culture (ISPRC) was founded in 2000 at Boston College, under the direction of Dr. Janet E. Helms, to promote the assets and address the societal conflicts associated with race or culture in theory, and research, mental health practice, education, business, and society at large.

ISPRC

Diversity Challenge

ISPRC solicits, designs, and distributes effective interventions with a proactive, practical focus. Each year the Institute will address a racial or cultural issue that could benefit from a pragmatic scholarly focus through its Diversity Challenge Conference.  Our 8th Annual Conference, Diversity Challenge 2008, is October 3-4, 2008.  This year's theme is the examination of the intersections among race, culture, and trauma across the lifespan. We invite you to take a look at last year's conference, Diversity Challenge 2007, which includes general information, invited speaker biographies, and conference proceedings/abstracts.

Summer Program

This year's Summer Program takes place August 12, 2008 just prior to the annual APA Convention held this year in Boston, Massachusetts. Our summer training program provides two full days of comprehensive training in the areas of race and culture, and the integration of these concepts into practice and service delivery.  The workshop consists of both didactic and experiential exercises that are intended to assist participants in integrating racial and cultural constructs into their practice. See the Information and Registration form for more detailed information.  A Program Schedule is now available; Presenter biographies will become available soon.
