Podcast Initiative

The CIHE Podcast Initiative brings key thinkers and leaders in higher education worldwide to a global audience. Our aim is to present dialogue and discussion on some of the central issues of higher education. The Podcast permits an informal approach and spontaneity of presentation that is not possible in an article or chapter. Our interviewees present their perspectives and arguments on a range of higher education themes. We archive the Podcasts so that they will be easily available.

We begin our series with several interviews that will be of wide interest.

# Patti McGill Peterson is the executive director of the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES)—the Fulbright Program—in the United States. Dr. Peterson has also been president of several American universities.

# D. Bruce Johnstone is director of the International Comparative Higher Education Finance and Accessibility Project at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Johnstone has been the Chancellor of the State University of New York System and president of the State University College at Buffalo.

# Alan Contreras is the Administrator for the Oregon Student Assistance Commission's Office of Degree Authorization (ODA). The ODA administers laws, standards, and services that seek to ensure the quality of higher education and the integrity of academic degrees as public credentials.

Upcoming Podcasts will feature interviews conducted at the 2007 annual conference for NAFSA: Association for International Educators. Guests will include Dr. Hans de Wit, Editor of the Journal of Studies in International Education, Dean of Windesheim Honours College of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam/Windesheim Hogeschool, Zwolle, and a founding member of the European Association for International Education (EAIE); Mr. David Crosier of the European University Association; and Dr. Michael J. Vande Berg, Chief Academic Officer of the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE).

Dr. Laura Rumbley, research associate at CIHE, is responsible for the Podcast Initiative and conducts the interviews.

The Podcasts are easily available. They can be downloaded directly from the CIHE website (http://www.bc.edu/cihe/podcast/) or listeners may subscribe via iTunes.

New Database Technology at CIHE

Please help us update your information!

The CIHE has developed a new database that opens exciting possibilities for our Web site in the future. The first stage is to update information about IHE subscribers. Please help us by returning the form included with this issue or send us your information in an e-mail to: highered@bc.edu. Please provide the following information: name, institutional affiliation, postal address where you wish to receive IHE, and e-mail. Let us know whether someone else at your organization should be added to our mailing list (and send the above information).

The CIHE is also developing a scholars' database that will be available on our Web site. Visitors will be able to search by topic to locate researchers worldwide who are studying a particular issue. If you would like to be included, let us know which areas of research you would like us to list.
