Professional Associations and Non-Profit Organizations Involved with International Higher Education

Asia Pacific Association of International Educators (APAIE)
APAIE is an international non-profit organization whose goal is to activate and reinforce the internationalization of higher education in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world, and to engage the professional challenges of individuals in international education. APAIE is a constituent-led organization made up of individual members. It has a steadfast membership of more than 1,000 international education professionals - from professors to rectors to international exchange coordinators. APAIE is dedicated to serving and representing this membership. and summer seminars in 20 countries.

Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE)
CIEE is the leading U.S. non-governmental international education organization. CIEE creates and administers programs that allow high school and university students and educators to study, volunteer, work and teach abroad. Today, CIEE is composed of three interrelated but operationally independent entities based in Portland, Maine; Boston, Massachusetts; and Tokyo, Japan.
Among many activities, CIEE administers 60 study abroad programs in over 30 host countries, 800 volunteer projects in 30 host countries, work programs in Australia, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand and teaching programs in China and Thailand. Educators can participate in January and summer seminars in 20 countries.

Institute of International Education (IIE)
The Institute of International Education is a world leader in the international exchange of people and ideas. An independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1919, IIE has 19 offices worldwide, over 800 college and university IIENetwork members, and more than 5,000 volunteers.
IIE designs and implements programs of study and training for students, educators, young professionals and trainees from all sectors with funding from government agencies, foundations, and corporations. These programs include the Fulbright and Humphrey Fellowships, administered for the U.S. Department of State, and the People, Energy, and Development program administered for USAID. IIE also conducts policy research, and provides advising and counseling on international education and opportunities abroad.
