The Journal of Higher Education in Africa was launched in 2003 in recognition of
the critical importance of higher education research and policy dialog in Africa.
Conceived by Damtew Teferra, its founding editor-in-chief, the Center for International Higher Education
spearheaded its publication for three years, through a grant from the Partnership
for Higher Education in Africa.
Currently, the Journal has no association with the Center for International Higher Education,
but is published by the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA).
