What is the FEDERALIST SOCIETY?
At the October 17th FS meeting, Professor Lash, a visiting professor from George Mason Law School, explained the role of the Federalist Society and his personal experiences with this national organization comprised of law students, attorneys and judges. Professor Lash is presently a member of the Federalist Society’s Executive Committee and was the Society’s first Vice Chair at Harvard Law School. The FS, says Lash, is an organization of libertarians and conservatives who are united in support of the rule of law and judicial restraint. Since the Society's founding twenty years ago, it has welcomed all people without regard to race, gender, religion or sexual orientation. Moreover, there is no official platform or party line on political issues such as abortion or the death penalty. The Federalist Society provides a forum to discuss legal issues and theories without fear for being labeled for what you believe. Professor Lash asked, "If you can't express your views in an academic setting, then where can you?"
The Boston College Federalist Society wishes to thank Professor Lash for his time and support.
