Volunteer Oppurtunity:
Mary Kay Elloian from the law offices of Mary Kay Elloian in
Burlington, MA is looking for one or potentially two student
volunteers to assist with developing an Appellate brief on an
issue of first impression
in Mass. It involves family law, estate issues, conflicts of
interest, etc. The volunteers would need to do case law research
and organize and Shepardize cases that could be most effectively
used in the
Appellate brief. This case is either going to be appealed to the
Appeals Court or the SJC. The timeline is as soon as practicable
to approximately
the year end; although most of the work must be done upfront. It
is an opportunity to do some civic good as this case affects many
who have or will fall prey to family violence to effectuate financial
goals of abusers who victimize for personal gain. This is a case
for those who want to help justice to be served, and do not want
the justice system to turn a blind eye. If interested please call
Mary at 781-275-2225. (posted 9/13)

New Exhibit in the Rare Book Room:The St. Thomas More
Collection
You are invited to view a new exhibit in the Law Library's
Daniel R. Coquillette Rare Book Room, featuring works by and
about St. Thomas More.
The More Collection was purchased in the early 1960s by
the Boston College Law School from the estate of Arthur Brown, who
taught at BC Law from 1941 to 1949. It contains approximately 100
titles focused on the life and work of Sir Thomas More, patron saint
of lawyers and ardent defender of the Catholic Church. It includes
several very special editions of More’s landmark work, Utopia,
including a beautifully illustrated 1518 edition and an 1893 edition
published by William Morris’ famed Kelmscott Press. The exhibition
features selections from the More Collection arranged by themes,
including episodes from his life, his writings and his
legacy. It was curated by Laurel Davis, BC Law class of 2006, with
assistance from Karen Beck, Curator of Rare Books. The exhibit
will remain on view through mid-December 2007. When you visit,
please leave all food, drinks and water bottles outside the room. (posted
