Research Interests:

His scholarly and research interest is in the area of psychosocial issues associated with HIV/AIDS. He also has been a pioneer in the continuing education of social workers around HIV/AIDS issues, having founded in 1989 the Annual National Conference on Social Work and HIV/AIDS which he continues to chair

He also has been a pioneer in the continuing education of social workers around HIV/AIDS issues, having founded in 1989 the Annual National Conference on Social Work and HIV/AIDS which he continues to chair. He has also obtained over $350,000 from corporate and governmental sources to support HIV/AIDS conferences and training projects for social workers.

CSWE's "Distinguished Recent Contributions to Social Work Education" (1998)

The Harlem Life Award (1998) for his work dealing with African American AIDS issues

The Massachusetts NASW Chapter's "Greatest Contributions to Social Work Award" (2001).
