Boston College
Media Research and Action Project

Groups seeking social change increasingly look to mass media as a critical arena of contest. The Boston College Media Research and Action Project (MRAP) works with such groups to identify and challenge barriers to access; to develop proactive media strategies; and to provide greater message diversity.

MRAP offers occasional workshops but primarily enters long-term 'partnering' relations with groups ready to build media systems. One such project is the Community Media Resource Network whose goal is to improve news coverage of communities historically under-represented or misrepresented in mass media. The network supports community-based organizations' efforts to build their media capacity and to develop working relations with journalists.
