RelArts is an Internet discussion group for those seeking new ways of talking about the religious and spiritual dimensions of the verbal, visual and performing arts, in the literature and the arts, in the context of contemporary theory and culture.
Discussions might include:
- information about developments in religious literary theory and explication,
- suggestions of topics,
- interpretations that develop new approaches to the religious and spiritual aspects of works of art,
- discussions of the role of religion in cultural studies,
- critical overviews of the state of scholarship,
- discussions of the theoretical relationship between religious discourse and other scholarly discourses,
- brief reviews.
The aims of the group might also include:
- exchanging information about conferences, lectures, and exhibitions,
- engaging in comment and debate where relevant to issues of critical theory and interpretation,
- setting up contact among those seeking new critical religious discourses.
