Pine Street Inn
Nature and Purpose
Pine Street Inn is New England's leading resource for homeless men and women, providing street outreach, shelter, health care, job training, and permanent,
affordable housint to 8,000 individuals each year.
Homelessness in Boston has increased 54 percent during the past decade. Each night in Boston,
6,000 people now find themselves with no place to call home. Many of these individuals turn to Pine
Street for help, and each one is welcomed as a "guest." Conselors work with guests to help them move as far as
they can, as quickly as they are able beyond shelter.
More information about the work of the inn and ways to help can be found at pinestreetinn.org.
Tasks
PULSE students have the opportunity

to a staff person who will act as the student's mentor. Students will be assigned to the
Men's Inn at our emergency shelter.
PULSE students who are interested in volunteering at Pine Street Inn will complete
a mandatory one-day training prior to starting.

PULSE students should plan to work either
2 four hour shifts per week beginning at 2PM and ending at 6PM or 1 eight
