The PULSE Program receives its operating funds from the university budget; the Director receives his salary from the Philosophy Department. The Program's operating costs are underwritten by a $750,000 endowment from the Dayton Hudson Foundation and a $150,000 gift from BankBoston.

The PULSE Program has a variety of resources at its disposal to help students be more effective in their projects, as well as to assist communities in meeting their needs.
Campus Facilities
PULSE will assist students in obtaining use of B.C. facilities for PULSE-related use (such as audiovisual equipment, meeting rooms, and recreational facilities for PULSE gatherings), as well as use of free admissions to the campus theatre, museum and sporting events.
Museums
PULSE has memberships at the Children's Museum, and has annually been allocated free tickets to the Museum of Science, the Compter Museum, and the Aquarium. Passes can be reserved in advance through the PULSE office.
Transportation
Since most of the PULSE placements are located away from the B.C. campus, traveling becomes a major expense in terms of time and money. Upon the presentation of receipts and the submission of a reimbursement form, PULSE students will be reimbursed for tolls and mileage expenses incurred as part of their placement. Students are encouraged to use public transportation, the T system, and are reimbursed for this expense on a monthly basis. It is the responsibility of the PULSE student to come to the PULSE office during the specified weeks outlined in the 2001/2002 calendar to obtain reimbursement for travel to their placements according to the policy listed below. Students who do not come to the PULSE office during the specified weeks will not be reimbursed.

T Travel
Only during the weeks specified in the 2001-2002 calendar, may obtain MBTA tokens at the PULSE office. Students will be given enough tokens to last until the next specified reimbursement week. It is the responsibility of the student to pick up their tokens before needing them; he/she will not be reimbursed after the fact. It is not within our means to provide extra tokens for the D line. Students will be provided with tokens for a maximum of two trips per week to their placements.
Bus Travel
T tokens are not for use on public buses (T=$1, bus=$.75). We will reimburse the student by check for the amount spent on the bus. To be reimbursed, the student should come into the PULSE office and fill out a travel reimbursement form during the weeks specified in the 2001/2002 calendar. Students will be reimbursed only for trips to their placement since the last specified reimbursement week.
Traveling by Car
If a student takes their car to a placement which is accessible by public transportation, he/she will be reimbursed no more than the amount that would have been needed for public transportation. If a student takes their car to a placement that is not accessible by public transportation, the student may be reimbursed to cover gas and expenses in an amount to be determined by the PULSE office. To be reimbursed, the student should come into the PULSE office during the weeks specified to fill out a travel reimbursement form. Students will be reimbursed only for trips to their placement since the last specified reimbursement week.
Traveling by PULSE Van
There are strict policies governing the use of the PULSE vans. Vans are used only for placements which are not accessible by public transportation or for which there are safety concerns and are in most cases driven by work-study students employed for this purpose.
