Fellowships
Fellowships in amounts ranging from five to fifteen thousand
dollars each will be awarded for use during the 2005-06 academic
year in support of research projects concerned with, or drawing
on, the thought of Bernard J. F. Lonergan, S.J.
Preference in
the awarding of these Fellowships will be given to scholars who
have earned the PH.D., or a similar advanced degree, and who
will be able to be in residence at Boston College for one or
two semesters. Due to the generosity of Fr. William Leahy, President
of Boston College, the Lonergan Institute now has a house next
to campus to accommodate visiting scholars. Thus, in addition
to the stipend, the Lonergan Institute is able to offer housing
on campus in which to live and work with other scholars.
Applicants
for the Lonergan Fellowships should prepare a dossier that includes
(1) a curriculum vitae, (2) a letter of recommendation from an
established scholar acquainted
with the applicant’s qualifications and work, and (3) a proposal outlining
in approximately five hundred words the project of research and/or writing which
the
applicant expects to pursue, its relation to Lonergan’s philosophy, theology,
or economics, and the resources at Boston College on which it will draw.
These
documents
should be sent not later than January 15 to:
Lonergan Institute
Bapst Library
Boston College
Chestnut Hill, MA 02467
Inquiries about the Fellowships should be sent to Joseph Flanagan,
S.J., Director of the Lonergan Institute, Boston
College. Decisions will be announced
by March 1.
