1919
Siegmund von Sachodolski

We tolerate no Anarchy!

We need to protect the women and children!

This poster also was sponsored by the provisional government in its campaign to restore political order to Germany in the early months of 1919.

It shows a returning veteran, tired and worn out by the terrors of the war, now reaching out his hand to stop the unseen figure who is threatening to throw a bomb. Enough of such violence, he is saying.

Behind him, in a halo of light, is the representative "family" -- the wife and two small children. These were what the soldier had been fighting to protect, and now he insists that he will continue to do that by opposing the political violence from spreading in Germany.
