Into the Schleswig-Holstein Free Corps to protect the Homeland.

In comparison with the Eastern sectors of Germany where the plebescites produced numerous acts of violence (by both sides), the elections in North Schleswig were generally peaceful.

Nevertheless, German nationalists were fond of stressing potential dangers, in order to frighten the local population into supporting German rights to the area. The graphics on this poster shows a German mother and child fleeing from their burning house -- implying that Danish terrorists had driven them out, as part of a campaign to intimidate the population.
