The Slogan:

We will achieve it

This is another poster sponsored by the provisional government as part of its campaign to suppress the sporadic violence and unrest attendant upon the returning soldiers and the different political parties.

It shows a young soldier, wearing the characteristic fatigue hat of the enlisted men, beating a drum as he goes through the streets making an announcement. The password or slogan for the times, he suggests, is peace, and a negotiated peace can only be achieved if there is law and order at home.

Although some historians have strongly criticized the provisional government for its hesitancy in pursuing more strongly socialist and other political goals, in fact the German government was convinced that any move in that direction would only split the country, set off civil war, and perhaps the destruciton of Germany.

Thus, peace and survivial demanded "order."
