The National Assembly
The Dawn Of
Our Social Republic

This widely circulated poster is extremely simple in design and intention. It shows a group of workers (identified by their tools) going off in the early morning hours to their wholesome employment. This action becomes in the poster a symbolism for the new Republic, which, if all work together peacefully, will guarantee equality and stability.

This is the "code" behind the rather ambiguous words, "a social republic." By such means, the propagandists hoped to soothe the apprehensions of middle-class Germany over the sudden participation of "Socialists" in the government.
