The Homeland

is in Danger

The Bolshevik wave threatens our frontiers. In our own country, Bolshevik forces rage freely bringing about economic distruction

Polish groups invade the German countryside and drive ever Westsward.

Great Measures need to be taken

Help at once! Speed is essential!

This alarmist poster is signed by the Minister of Defense in the new Government, Gerhard Noske. It is an official governmental appeal for young Germans to join the para-military organizations. The dangers cited are both domestic and foreign.

The reference to Polish groups comes from the growing threat that the Allies would restore Poland and give to that new country German territory in the East. Anticipating this, armed Polish militias were seizing some border towns.
