After the thrilling 68% majority in the long-delayed Upper Silesian plebescite, the decision of the Allied Ambassadors' Conference in Paris to divide the district was denounced in Germany. When the public outcry became so strong, the former Allies decided to turn the whole matter over to the League of Nations. Referred to a special committee, this body confirmed the decision to divide the district of Upper Silesia, awarding approximately 1/3 of the area and population to Poland.
This cartoon/poster appeared in Munich immediately following this decision. The copy I have is badly damaged so I have inserted the text in English. The graphics depict a five-headed monster eating the entrails of a prostrate Germany. And underneath, the caustic remark that now this shows there is a real League of Nations -- all against Germany.
