Although the FILM STUDIES major was started only two years ago, already BC has set itself apart from the other schools in the area by its commitment to maintain itself on the cutting edge of technology.
However, its not just the equipment that makes our program better, it's the people. Boston College's commitment to hiring people that can teach what they do, has been key to graduating students from its ranks that know what they're talking about as well as know what they're doing.

John Michalczyk
Prolific filmmaker, Chair of the Fine Arts Department, Director of Film Studies, and Director fro the Jaques Salmanowitz Program for Moral courage in Film. Proffesor Michalczyk is a valuable resource to tap into when it comes to making films about moral courage. In recent years he has made 11 documentary films about conflict resolution and refugee crisis, all of which have been featured on PBS. He is the Author of five books on film history, and was nominated for a New England Emmy in 1996
Fr. Richard Blake S.J.
Noted Critic and Co-Director of Film Studies, Father Blake is indispensible when it comes to learning about film as an art. He is the distinguished author of many books and articles on film.
Prof. Pamela Berger
Noted feature filmmaker, Pamela Berger has written and produced three feature films.

Nationally recognized photographer, who has frequently worked with Ken Burns on such documentary series as The Civil War (1994).
