Sharon Bazarian '78
Freelance Photographer
Sharon received her BA in Political Science in 1978. Following her graduation,
she attended workshops and seminars at the New England School of Photography,
and Kodak. Her clients include Brigham and Women's Hospital, New Balance, Converse,
and Holland and Knight. Sharon also covers Boston area radio stations, WSKS,
WBCN, WBMX, weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, corporate functions. She is a member of
the Watertown Chamber of Commerce and was also a past president of the Watertown
Boys and Girls Club. Sharon has also participated on the Board of Directors
for the Women's Golf Association of Massachusetts.
Tim Burns
Flash Designer, Artist, and Musician
Tim Burns has been pursuing Art, Music, and Philosophy since he was an undergraduate
at Boston College. In his senior year, he formed and played in a band with singer/songwriter
Dan Rocket (BC'94), completed his senior painting project and studied hermeneutics
with William Richardson S.J. While studying philosophy in a masters program
at BC, Tim taught Fine Arts and Philosophy at St. Sebastian's School to grades
7 - 12, and helped run some of the school's music ensembles. During this period,
he was exposed to Flash, a computer animation program designed for the internet.
Due to the exciting creative possibilities he saw in multimedia and the dot.com
craze sweeping the nation at that time, he quite his job at St. Sebastian's
and joined the internet start-up Popstick.com as a project manager. He then
began teaching multimedia classes and consulting for the United Digital Artists.
Tim currently works as a Flash designer for Accenture Institute for Strategic
Change and is a bass section member of the New England Philharmonic.
Tom Curran '86
Filmmaker and Cameraman
An Emmy Award-winning cameraman, Tom makes his directorial debut
with "ADRIFT" for which he serves as cameraman, producer and director
(www.adrift-movie.com). At the 2000 New England Film and Video Festival, Curran
won the Best Cinematography for his work as Director of Photography on the documentary
"IDITARODS A FAR DISTANT PLACE" narrated by Susan Sarandon. Over the
past ten years at a documentary photography, Tom has worked for ABC's Wide World
of Sports, Blackside's PBS series, "I'LL MAKE ME A WORLD", the Discovery
Channel's "DISCOVER MAGAZINE" and Cheed-Angue's PBS series, Scientific
American "FRONTIERS". Tom was a graduate of Boston College.
Maureen Donovan, '78
Registrar, Harvard University Art Museums
Maureen Donovan graduated from Boston College in 1978 with a double major in
Art History and English. She accepted a job in the Registrar's Office at the
Harvard University Art Museums. In 1998, Ms. Donovan became the Registrar, managing
a department that had quadrupled in size since she started, with a collection
of over 150,000 works of art. Every work of art entering or leaving the museum
passes through the Registrar's office. The department is responsible for recording
all works of art, overseeing their safe handling, storage, transportation and
security. The museum acquires several hundred works of art annually, lends many
works out to borrowing institutions, and organizes travelling exhibitions both
domestically and internationally.
Heather Leavell '95
Curator of Education, Stonehurst: The Robert Treat Paine Estate
Heather Leavell is responsible for creating, promoting and implementing programs and
exhibits for visitors of all ages to raise awareness of Stonehurst as a valuable
educational resource for a local and national community. She received her BA in art
history from Boston College in 1995 and her MA in art history and museum studies from
Tufts University in 2001. She has worked at numerous area museums including the Tufts
University Art Gallery, the Addison Gallery of American Art and the National Heritage
Museum in a variety of art educational and curatorial capacities. Stonehurst is a
famous Shingle Style house created by renowned American designers, H.H. Richardson and
Frederick Law Olmsted. Stonehurst collections include original Victorian furnishings,
paintings, decorative arts and the Paine family archives.
Tim Lemire '89
Writer
Tim Lemire is currently a writer for an Intranet site of Fidelity
Investments, Boston. Previously, he was an editor at the TAB Community Newspapers,
where he still contributes book-related features. Tim graduated from Boston
College in 1989 with a BA in English and in 1996 he graduated from the University
of Michigan's MFA program in Creative Fiction Writing.
Paul Shakespear, '71
Artist/Painter
Paul Shakespear started painting full-time while a student at Boston College.
After graduation, he attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts for several
years. This spring, he will have his tenth solo exhibition at the Howard Yezerski
Gallery in Boston, and his first solo exhibition at Solomon Fine Arts in Seattle.
Mr. Shakespear is included in "Boston Painting: 1950-2000," an historical
survey currently showing at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, MA.
Jere Shea
Actor/Consultant
Jere Shea has trained and advised actors from Broadway to Boston for over a
decade. Shea has starred in several Broadway productions such as Guys and Dolls,
Damn Yankees and Stephen Sondheim's Passion (Tony Award Nomination, Theater
World Award). His Film and TV credits include "Passion" (PBS), "Path
to Paradise" (HBO), "Law & Order," Bill Cosby's "Cosby
Mysteries," and "A Season in Purgatory" (CBS miniseries) with
Brian Denehy. Shea also starred with Donnie Wahlburg in the Boston based feature
film SOUTHIE (Seattle Film Festival's Best Film, 1998), and has narrated Lincoln's
Gettysburg Address with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Orchestra. Mr. Shea,
a former Special Advisor to Governor Paul Cellucci, also offers Speech Coaching
and Presentation Skills Training to individuals in the world of business and
politics.
Karen Stein, '96
Graphic Designer
Karen Stein graduated from Boston College in 1996 with a double major in
Philosophy and Political Science. After spending a couple years working for
an international creative consultancy based out of London, she returned to
Boston, eventually to find her way to Harvard University Press. There she
became interested in Graphic Design, eventually finishing the Graphic Design
Certificate program at Massachusetts College of Art. During that same time,
she began working for Lindsay Hill Design, a small graphic design studio in
Charlestown, where her work included brochures, corporate identity, logos,
signage, magazines, and advertisements. She has just recently started
working for a product development company in Woburn called Graphique de
France. She also does freelance work for several clients.
Kevin Supples, '85
Freelance editor/writer
Kevin received his MA in Nonfiction Writing at Emerson College in 1989. As a
Boston-based freelance editor and writer, Kevin specializes in history, art,
and cultural studies. He has contributed to many books, textbooks, magazines
and CD-ROMS published by various houses, including Prentice Hall, Daris, Houghton
Mifflin, and the National Geographic Society.
