Step Two: Getting Our First Web Page
We're going to want to grab Duket's web page that he's made as a template for all of you. Both of the templates can be accessed from the main menu above, you will want to use the template that is appropriate to your class section.
Before you do anything else, open up your "My Documents," folder (if you're on a Mac just make a folder where you normally save your documents, I don't know how your file structure works). In here, make a new folder (right mouse click --> New --> Folder) and call it "Honors Web Page" or "HonorsSite" or whatever you feel like as long as you can remember what's in it. Also, make a second folder entitled, "sitebackup," we're going to keep backups of our work there.

I'm going to use the MW page for my examples. Ok now we're going to want to open up a different program, called Netscape Composer. If you don't already have Composer on your computer we're going to need to install it. Click this link to go to BC's software download page, and download Netscape Navigator. Composer comes with it. If you already have it just keep reading, and if you have an older version I recommend upgrading using that link.
Now, click on Start --> Programs --> Netscape Communicator to find the Composer program. Once the program loads click on "File" then "Open Web Location". A window will pop open, just either write or paste in the URL of the template page (again, it's at the top of this screen!), and then make sure to select "New Composer Window" within the "Open In" dropdown menu. Press enter and then Professor Duket's page should now load on your screen, if it didn't make sure you are entering the proper address.

Now, we're going to want to save this file before we work on it. Click on "Save As" under the File menu, and open up your HonorsSite folder (or whatever you named it), and then save the file with the name default. It may ask you to give your page a "title." A title is what appears in the upper left corner of your web browser whenever you visit a site, the name of the page. Just call it "My Honors Page" or "Jenny's Honors Page" or whatever. Also after this, be sure to save this file in your sitebackup folder as well.
There we go! We've grabbed the template from Duket's page and are now
ready to do some web editing.
