Run of the Charles Canoe Race 1998
Run of the Charles Canoe Race 1999
Featuring "Paddling Jesuits" from Marquette to Appleyard; 1999 Run of the Charles, Sunday, April 25 (Seventeenth Annual)
The Run of the Charles is a fund raising event
of the Charles River Watershed Association. Relay teams of ten paddlers
race 26 miles from Dedham to Herter Park in Brighton/Boston. Each leg is
five miles or so and many include portages around dams and other man-made
obstacles. The Arts and Sciences Honors Program participates to bring our
community together outside the classroom as well as to promote awareness
in the Boston College community that our university is nearly encircled
by an historic river, a river that is accessible and ever cleaner. Groups
and individuals can enter the race on their own. Details from the Charles
River Watershed Association, Commonwealth Ave., Auburndale, MA (link below).
