Ajax the Greater – (also spelled Aias) son of Telemon
the king of Salimis. Ajax was very large in stature, slow in speech, and
very courageous. He fights victoriously against Hector,
and draws a wrestling match against Odysseus.
He is one of the ambassadors sent to bring Agamemnon’s
treatise to Achilles.
There are several different stories of his death; he died of an arrow wound from
Paris,
he was buried alive by Trojans, or he killed himself after going mad.
