This section presents the finest examples
of Irish landscape painting from Irish national museums and American
private collectors. Visitors learn how eighteenth-, nineteenth-
and early twentieth-century Irish artists expressed a growing cultural
nationalism and sense of the distinctness of the Irish landscape.
The exhibition texts also explore the impact of English and Continental
aesthetic movements on the Irish tradition of landscape painting.
