MISETA Spaced Receiver System at Ancon, Peru
The Multi-Instrumented Studies of Equatorial Thermosphere Aeronomy (MISETA) spaced-antenna scintillation system has been operating nearly continously at Ancon, Peru since May, 1994. Three antennas aligned in the magnetic east-west direction monitor fluctuations in rf signal strength at 250 MHz from a geo-stationary satellite located nearly overhead. Routine calculations of the fluctuation strength (S4 index) and ionospheric drift velocity are calculated and recorded as data is collected. A detailed description of the system and statistical analysis of the drifts can be found in Valladares et. al, 1996. Weekly plots of zonal drift velocity can be seen by clicking on the year(s) below.
