The primary goal of the Fourth Annual Ethics and Technology Conference is to stimulate dialogue and discussion about Information Technology, the Internet, and Society. Rarely has any technology become as pervasive and influential in such short a time as the Internet. The Internets exponential growth has triggered many provocative questions that demand attention from professionals representing a broad range of disciplines. This Conference brings together legal scholars, business and medical professionals, philosophers, ethicists, and others to consider the Internets profound impact on so many aspects of our daily and professional lives. We will be calling upon their expertise and collective wisdom to address the critical social, legal, political, and economic challenges posed by the Internet. Their diverse perspectives will advance our understanding of this technology and help shape the future debate about these controversial issues. The papers to be presented consider a wide range of topics from recent efforts to regulate digital identity to the future of intellectual property in the digital economy. Broad themes such as Internet regulation along with access and equity on the global Internet will dominate two days of stimulating discussions.
As we look forward to this excellent series of forward-looking presentations and conversations, we invite your participation. We can assure all participants that these two days at Boston College will be a memorable intellectual event.
