Philosophy
Taking part in the Boston College Recreational Day camp, children will be exposed to a safe and fun outlet in a variety of sports activities.  As with the Boston College tradition, we strive to follow the motto ‘Ever to excel’.  Each session is dedicated to give the children a sense of accomplishment and personal achievement.  Through various activities and interactive participation, we will lay a strong foundation, one that involves our camps standards of excellence, a positive attitude, confidence, good judgment, honesty, cooperation, and respect.

Camp Schedules & Activities
Camp programming combines a variety of sports and recreational activities. Camp begins each morning with an all camp stretch and group activity.  Campers will then separate into their respective groups and rotate between the various locations inside and outside the Flynn Recreation Complex.  The pool is one of the camper highlights of the day.  Campers will be tested to assess their swim level. Campers who pass the swim test may enjoy time in the dive well which has one 3-meter and two 1-meter diving boards, also a camper favorite!
The indoor and outdoor tennis courts and outdoor recreational spaces are areas where campers play four-square, dodge-ball and other group games. Campers will also participate in group recreational tennis games such as ‘jail’, ‘king of the court’, and ‘messy backyard’, learning and practicing the fundamentals of the sport.
The air conditioned multipurpose rooms are an indoor spot where campers can cool down and participate in activities such as arts and crafts, board games, trivia, and dance.  This space as well as our squash and racquetball courts is utilized when the weather does not cooperate to play various recreational games.
Camp concludes each week with ‘Fun Fridays’, which consist of a series of relay races and other team activities, a lunchtime pizza party, and camp graduation ceremony.

AGE REQUIREMENTS
The Boston College Recreational Day Camp is open to children 7 to 12 years old. Campers must fall between ages 7-12 years old as of July 1st. Due to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Minimum Standards for Recreational Camps for Children, there is a required ratio of supervisory staff to campers for children under the age of 7. In addition, in consideration of the safety of the children enrolled, the structure of the camp activities is specific to children in the 7-12 year old age range.

Camp Staff
All of the Recreational Day Camp Staff are full time employees of Boston College, graduate or undergraduate students.  A majority of the camp counselors are Boston College students who have a combination of past experiences working with children in camp counseling, childcare, elementary education courses with the Lynch School of Education, and various other youth organizations.  All Campus Recreation Full Time Staff are certified by the American Red Cross in First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.  All of the pool staff carries current certifications in American Red Cross Life Guarding/First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.  All of the camp staff have undergone background checks and provided at least three positive references.
This camp must comply with regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and be licensed by the local board of health.

Drop-off and Pick-up
Check-in for Camp will begin at 8:30 am. The designated dropoff and pickup location will be at the Flynn Recreation Complex outdoor basketball court located adjacent to the Mod parking lot across from the Commonwealth Avenue parking garage.  You may enter campus through the St. Ignacio entrance.  Camp staff will be visible in the Mod parking lot just outside the outdoor basketball court of the Flynn Recreation Complex and will be available to answer any questions.
