First Aid
The purpose of this course is to train individuals
in the skills necessary to recognize and provide basic first aid care
for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive
and take over. This course does not include information on breathing or
cardiac emergencies back

CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer
The purpose of this course is to train professional
rescuers (those with a duty to act and provide care) in the skills necessary
to respond appropriately to breathing and cardiac emergencies, including
the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden
cardiac arrest. back

LIFEGUARD
TRAININg
This class teaches lifeguard candidates the skills
and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies at
both a pool and waterfront facility. Upon successful completion of the
course, each student will receive: Lifeguard Training, First Aid and
CPR/FPR.You will receive an AED certification in both Full and review
class.*Must pass pretest to take the class. No
refund for failing pretest or class.
*Pre-Test
1.
Swim 300 yards continuously, using each of the following strokes in
the following order: 100 yard of front crawl, 100 yards of breaststroke,
100 yards of either front crawl or breaststroke. (no time requirement)
2. Swim 20 yard using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a depth
of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface, and swim
20 yards back to the starting point with the object. You cannot wear goggles
when retrieving brick. Refunds
will not be given for those that fail the pre-test.
3. Must be at least fifteen by the end of class.

the full content course. This review course includes First Aid and CPR

WATER SAFTEY INSTRUCTIOn (WSI)
Water Safety Instruction is an advanced swimming
course designed for those who wish to become American Red Cross Swim
Instructors. Upon successful completion of the course, students will
be certified to teach all levels of swim lessons as well as the Community
Water Safety Course.*Must pass pretest
to take class. No
refund for failing pretest or class.
Prerequisites
All students must be 16 years of age by the end
of the course.
*Pre-Test
1.Swim
Front Crawl, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Elementary Backstroke, Sidestroke
and Butterfly at a level 4 or higher. Please contact Caitriona
Taylor if you have concerns about the pretest at taylorcm@bc.edu. Refunds
will not be given for those that fail the pre-test.
