BC Network Information

Laptops and mobile devices need to be registered on the BC network to obtain access to the Internet and other e-services. You cannot activate your computer if you are not physically at Boston College. Follow the instructions below and contact ATR with any questions at atrinbox@bc.edu or 617-552-2604.

Password Change Policy

BC requires you to change your primary password (used for Agora login) each year on your birthday. When you change your primary password, you will need to re-authenticate to connect to the network. This applies to any connection method listed below. Mac users: If you have saved your password for network connection or printing, you will need to delete your old password from the Apple Keychain.

Mac Users

 

  1. Connect to the eduroam wireless network.

  2. Enter when prompted:

    username@bc.edu (include @bc.edu)
    BC password (used for Agora portal)

  3. You may need to make eduroam your preferred wireless network.
    • Click the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar and then click Open Network Preferences.
    • Select Wi-Fi in the left pane and then click Advanced.
    • Under the Wi-Fi tab, click and drag “eduroam” to the top of the list.
    • Click OK.

  4. Select “I Agree,” “Continue,” or "Connect" if you receive any certificate messages. If prompted, enter your Mac administrative username and password (the password you use to log in to your computer).

Windows Users

 

  1. Connect to the eduroam wireless network.

  2. Click on the pop-up in the lower right of screen that says "Additional information is needed to connect to this network."

  3. Enter:

    username@bc.edu (include @bc.edu)
    BC password (used for Agora portal)

  4. Select "I Agree", "Continue", or "Connect" if prompted

Mac Users

 

  1. Disable the wireless connection to ensure you are configuring your computer's wired connection.

  2. Using an ethernet cable, connect your computer to the ethernet jack.

  3. Open System Preferences > Network. From the Configure drop-down list, select "Using DHCP" and in the Search Domains box, type: bc.edu.

  4. Log in with:

    username@bc.edu (include @bc.edu)
    BC password (used for Agora portal)

  5. Select “I Agree,” “Continue,” or "Connect" if you receive any certificate messages. If prompted, enter your Mac administrative username and password (the password you use to log in to your computer).

Windows Users

Laptops and Mobile Devices

 

  1. Connect to the BostonCollege wireless network

  2. Go to helix.bc.edu and select Guest Registration Page

  3. Complete the registration form. You will receive a confirmation email and/or text with your login credentials.

Note: Guest registration allows you 24 hours of access. To regain access to the internet, you must repeat this process each day.

Windows and Mac OSX

 

  1. Download and install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN software from the Software Download site.

  2. Connect your computer to the internet.

  3. Open Cisco AnyConnect VPN client and press Connect. Enter your BC username and password.

Mobile Devices (iPhone and Android)

 

  1. Download the VPN software:
    • iPhones - Download the app from the Apps Store: search "Cisco AnyConnect."
    • Android - Download the app from the Google Play Store: search "Cisco AnyConnect."

  2. Enter the following information:
    • Description: Eagle VPN
    • Server Address: eaglevpn.bc.edu

  3. Press Connect and enter your BC username and password.
