What’s in a Name?

The Heart of This City: Boston Strong and Becoming
Stronger was written by 16 Presidential Scholars.

What, exactly, do we mean when we say “Boston Strong?”

The phrase went viral after last year’s Boston Marathon bombing, intriguing a group of BC students, who spent 10 months studying the Boston Strong phenomenon. The results? They were published in a new book, The Heart of This City: Boston Strong and Becoming Stronger, which examines the underlying meaning of what became an enormously resonant phrase.

The students, all members of BC’s prestigious Presidential Scholars Program, Class of 2016, interviewed many who survived or witnessed the bombing as well as area social service agency workers. Boston Mayor Marty Walsh WCAS’10 penned the introduction.
