The New Business Acumen

The Carroll School of Management opened its doors this summer to further the well-rounded education of Boston College students.

Thirty-three non-Carroll School undergraduates recently completed the first ever Summer Management Catalyst Program, an intensive and foundational education in management, designed to enhance the marketability of students in all disciplines.

Over 10 weeks, students had the opportunity to take a number of courses, all taught by Carroll School faculty, such as finance, accounting, marketing, management, and Portico—the signature Carroll School course on ethics and business.

“The Catalyst Program was designed to immerse non-business students into the world of management and provide tools that could make them more competitive in the job market, regardless of their program of studies or career trajectory,” says Carroll School Dean Andy Boynton. "Time will tell all the ways that the program will benefit the students, but as the students themselves will tell you, they have learned a great deal this summer, broadened their perspectives and network of friends, and gained confidence. All of which will make them better prepared to launch their careers."
