Uplifting Art

Spencer Powers ’07 co-founded ArtLifting, a “low-profit” gallery  that represents artists who face the challenges of disabilities, poverty, or homelessness. In 2011, Powers and his sister, Liz, established an annual art show, City Heart, featuring Boston-area artists living in shelters. The success of the show, now held at the Prudential Center, inspired them to develop an online gallery that offers a consistent professional marketplace for marginalized artists. Initial response has been enthusiastic—sales have been strong, and the Powerses hope to grow ArtLifting into a business representing artists across the country.

The Boston Globe featured the project.
