Pops Scholarship Gala Breaks Records
The Boston Pops Orchestra filled Conte Forum Sept. 27 with melody for a record-breaking Pops on the Heights: the Barbara and Jim Cleary Scholarship Gala. This much-loved BC tradition brings the renowned orchestra, led by Maestro Keith Lockhart, to the Heights for a festive event that raises significant funds for financial aid.
This year’s gala—which featured special guest star, singer and actress Katharine McPhee—smashed previous records, raising $4.2 million. Since the event was founded more than two decades ago by Jim Cleary ’50, H’93, P’84, ’89, it has raised more than $23 million for the Pops Scholars program, which provides scholarship assistance to deserving Boston College students. This year, 170 young men and women are receiving Pops Scholars grants to help make it possible for them to attend the University.
