College Students Get a Taste of Working in TV and Radio in the
Big Apple
(Chestnut
Hill, MA)—What do HBO, Disney, DIRECTV, and NBC all have
in common besides being big players in the media industry? They
al lhave alumni at their helm who are extremely involved with
Boston College; alumni who recently gave their time to meet
with a group of BC students interested in exploring a career
in media and entertainment. On May 21-22, a dozen students took
part in the Media and Entertainment Career Exploration Tour,
which was a joint venture by the Alumni Association's Career
Services Committee, the Career Center, and the NYC Chapter of
the Alumni Association. Led by Jason Moore '03, the students
saw first- hand how the ever changing media industry works from
professionals at NBC/Universal, DIRECTV, Disney/ABC, HBO, and
SIRIUS Satellite Radio.

From The Career Center:
Externship
Program
We invite Boston College alumni in Massachusetts and New York
City to participate in our Externship Program, which was successfully
inaugurated last year. An externship is a one–to five–
day job-shadowing and mentoring experience. It is an opportunity
for students to gain an understanding of a business, industry,
company, organization, and/or job function. It is their chance
to ask questions and to observe day-to-day business operations.

Welcome
BC Communication Alumni!
It is with great pleasure that we launch our Boston College
Communication Alumni Network (BCCAN), in partnership with the
Alumni Association. We are thrilled to reconnect with our alumni
across the globe, and want this newsletter to be a platform
for communication among faculty, undergraduate students, and
alumni. Communication is the largest major at Boston College,
and our alums are essential in helping us complement our strong
academic setting with professional internship opportunities
and mentoring. We also encourage any of you, who find yourselves
back at the Heights, to contact us and perhaps guest speak in
one of our classrooms. Our students value the connection to
alumni working in their field of study. Thank you for your interest
in reconnecting with the communication department.
