Frequently asked questions about Pops on the Heights

Q: What are the Pops?

A: The Boston Pops provides music lovers in Boston and throughout the country the chance to hear good music in all its varied flavors. The orchestra offers concerts in Symphony Hall each year, including a spring season from May to early-July, and a month of holiday concerts in December. With its concerts at home and on tour, and its many recordings, the Boston Pops is truly America's orchestra.

Q: How long have the Pops been coming to Boston College?

A: 2009 marks the 17th annual Pops on the Heights Scholarship Gala.

Q: Where is Pops on the Heights held?

A: On campus, in Conte Forum, the home of BC basketball and hockey.

Q: Who can attend Pops on the Heights?

A: Pops on the Heights is open to the entire Boston College community. We encourage you to bring your family and friends. Be sure to reserve your tickets early, as this event always sells out.

Q: When will I receive my tickets?

A: Tickets for Pops on the Heights will be mailed out Labor Day weekend.  They will be mailed to the address that you have indicated on your order form.  Orders placed online will receive an e-mail confirmation.  Additional orders accepted, however they can not be seated with original orders

Q: Can I request specific seats?

A: We seat guests on a first-come, first-served basis. While we will try our best to meet the requests of our guests, we cannot guarantee the reservation of specific seats.

Q: Is handicapped-accessible seating available?

A: Yes. The seats are $50.

Q: Must I purchase a ticket for my BC student? Do students have to purchase full-price tickets?

A: Yes, students are required to purchase full-price tickets.

Q: How long will the concert last?

A: The concert will begin promptly at 8:00 p.m. and last approximately two hours.

Q: What should I wear?

A: People usually wear either business or business casual attire. Jackets and ties are optional.

Q: If I purchase tickets and later find I cannot attend the event, can I get a refund?

A: No refunds are available for Pops on the Heights tickets.

Q: Is the cost of the tickets tax deductible?

A: With the exception of the tickets for reserved balcony seating, a portion of the price of each ticket is tax deductible. Boston College will send tax receipts 2-4 weeks after the date your order was placed. Most donor-advised funds and many private foundations state that as a condition of their gift, no benefit can accrue to the person recommending the gift.
