At its heart, Boston College is a community of connected individuals who together act as a powerful force to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

During the Neenan Challenge more than 26,000 undergraduate alumni came together to garner a total of $1 million in financial aid. Each of you who made that individual commitment inspired thousands of your fellow alumni to do the same. This blueprint for building and sustaining an essential annual base of financial support meets the University’s daily needs—and ensures our best students reap the benefits of a BC education. It is also one of the four primary goals behind the Light the World campaign.

That’s why we are excited to introduce the Alumni Participation Challenge, a multi-year effort that will support the campaign through 2015 and raise Boston College to an elite level of alumni loyalty. Inspired by last year’s success and committed to spurring even more alumni to take action, the anonymous donor behind the Neenan Challenge will provide a total of $3 million in matching funds to once again support undergraduate financial aid. As each year’s target is met, the donor will release $500,000 to support students like the Neenan Scholars, and we'll earn the opportunity to reach even greater heights every year.
