John F. Fish, P’13

John F. Fish is currently vice chair of the Board of Trustees of Boston College, the first non-alumnus to serve in that role. Fish is the chairman and chief executive officer of Suffolk Construction Company. Under his leadership, Suffolk has grown into one of the most successful privately held general building contractors in the country.

Fish serves on a number of boards committed to the business agendas of the city of Boston and the state of Massachusetts. He serves on the board of directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and is a founding member and former chair of the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership—he currently chairs the Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee for that group. Fish was recently appointed to the Economic Development Planning Council for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Fish has also served on many boards and executive committees to support important community, environmental, and social organizations. These include the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, Jobs for Mass, the Boston Private Industry Council, the Boston Green Ribbon Commission, the Salvation Army, the Catholic Schools Foundation, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Fish heads up the Brigham and Women’s Hospital capital campaign and is a member of the Business Roundtable and the Urban Land Institute. He is also a trustee of Tabor Academy. Fish also provides the vision, support, and day-to-day leadership behind the Boston Scholar Athletes program and serves on the board of Camp Harbor View.

Fish is a graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He received an honorary doctorate of engineering technology degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology.
