Preparing for the Journey
One of the Council's most successful initiatives to date is Preparing for the Journey. This program began five years ago as a career and networking presentation offered to junior and senior women undergraduates of Boston College. Each program features the opportunity for students to discuss and network with talented and accomplished alumnae who share their stories and experiences. These alumnae also offer students their expertise on interviewing, networking and intern opportunities.
To date, approximately 2,500 undergrads, have participated and benefited from this worthwhile program.
Beginning the Journey
This program is offered to young alumnae(1–10 years out) and features a thought–provoking panel discussion and networking opportunity with distinguished Boston College alumnae. Topics covered include building your resume, moving forward in your career, and work life balance.
Beginning the Journey programs are held in numerous cities across the country including Boston, New York City, Chicago, Washington D.C., and San Francisco.
Continuing the Journey
This career oriented program is offered to alumnae who are navigating the path back into the workforce or are facing a career transition. This full day interactive seminar is focused on practical "how–to's" of the job search with several break–out sessions offered, including resume writing, interviewing techniques, and effective networking. It is a wonderful opportunity to interact with fellow alumnae and Council members.
Refining the Journey
This program is offered to alumnae (20+ years graduated) and explores the many life experiences facing women at this stage of the journey. Distinguished faculty and accomplished alumnae discuss self discovery and engagement with meaning and purpose. Topics include volunteerism, care giving, and lifelong learning and education.
The Council holds private exhibitions and receptions at the McMullen Museum of Art for alumnae of Boston College.
On The Road
The Council on the Road initiative enhances the experience of Council members throughout the country by connecting members and alumnae with Boston College and each other. Various events are planned throughout the year to foster alumnae engagement and increase awareness of the CWBC and its programs.
Women's Athletic Events
In an attempt to raise the profile of the extremely competitive and successful women's athletic program at Boston College, the Council is hoping to sponsor at least one women's athletic event per season.
