Fall 2016 Meetings

Monday, Oct. 3: Gone with the Wind (1936), by Margaret Mitchell. The film will be discussed as well—also recommended: early chapters of the critical biography Southern Daughter: The Life of Margaret Mitchell  (1991), by Darden Asbury.

Monday, Nov. 7: Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City (2016), by Matthew Desmond. Matthew Desmond speaks on his work at the Boston College’s Lowell Humanities Lecture Series, on September 21 at 7 p.m. in Gasson 100. All are invited.

Monday, Dec. 12: Angels and Insects (1993), by A.S. Byatt. The first of the book’s novellas, “Morpho Eugenia,” will be discussed. 

 

The BC Alumni Association welcomes Newton College Alumnae to Cadigan Alumni Center for another semester of Newton College book club meetings. The book club is moderated by Professor Judith Wilt, past Newton College Alumnae Chair in Western Culture. 

A light dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by discussion at 6 p.m.
