Alumni Awards of Excellence have a long and respected history at Boston College. We are proud to recognize several alumni annually for their varied contributions to the University, to their profession, and to society. The awards include:
William V. McKenney Award
The highest honor bestowed by the Alumni Association, this award was created in 1936 in honor of its first recipient, William V. McKenney '15. The award recognizes a Boston College graduate whose outstanding service to a chosen profession, community or bestows honor on the University.

GOLD Award
The GOLD Award recognizes an outstanding Graduate of the Last Decade for excellence in a chosen profession, to a community or social cause, or to Boston College. It is intended to recognize those who are truly inspirational to others.

Ignatian Award
This award recognizes an individual who lives the Ignatian mission of “men and women for others.” By serving others and exhibiting a caring, giving approach to life, this individual will clearly serve as an example to all members of the BC community.
