Availability of housing for transfer students varies significantly from year to year. Please note that if you wish to be considered for on-campus housing, you should mark the appropriate box under "Applicant Information" on page 2 of the Boston College Supplemental Application for Transfer Admission. Doing so will not affect your admission decision. Housing will be awarded if space is available on campus. In years where no space is available on campus, students will be referred to the off-campus housing division of Boston College's Office of Residential Life. This office maintains a database of realtors, landlords and roommates to assist in the search for off-campus accommodations.
In recent years, most transfer students entering in September have been guaranteed one year of campus housing, while those students entering in January have been guaranteed one semester of campus housing. Housing availability beyond these initial guarantees is not known. Enrolling students should plan to live off campus for at least part of their undergraduate careers at Boston College. Most students who enter Boston College as freshman receive three years of campus housing and will therefore live on campus their freshman, sophomore and senior years. The Office of Residential Life tries to accommodate all students who wish to live on campus, but can not guarantee that space will be available.
