The Boston College community welcomes transfer students. Each year, approximately 100 students from a variety of educational backgrounds transfer into Boston College. The majority of transfer students enter in the Fall semester. A small class also enrolls each January. The Committee on Transfer Admission reviews each application individually. Primary emphasis is placed on the college record. Also considered in the review process are SAT and/or ACT test scores, high school record, essays, recommendations, activities and work experience. The longer a student has been away from high school the greater emphasis is placed on performance and experiences since high school.
Boston College is a residential campus. Students admitted as freshen are awarded either three or four years of campus housing. Students awarded three years of campus housing live off campus their junior year. Accordingly, nearly all freshman, sophomores and seniors choose to reside on campus. While the University tries to meet the campus housing needs of all students, the housing process for admitted transfer students is different than the process for admitted freshman students.
Transfer students who plan to enroll at Boston College for the Fall semester are guaranteed a year of on campus housing, while students who plan to enroll for the Spring semester are guaranteed a semester of campus housing. No guarantee of campus accommodations will be made beyond this initial offer. Students will be notified if space is available in subsequent years and will be able to live on campus if they so desire. If space is not available on campus, students are responsible for securing off campus housing accommodations. Should you have questions or concerns about the housing process at Boston College, please contact either of the Office of Residential life at (617) 552-3060 or the Office of Undergraduate Admission 1-800-360-2522.
