Growing up near the border, I've been around international relations all my life. I knew I wanted to focus on Latin American and US/Mexico relations. I like how BC links education, service, and the Jesuit ideals. Last year, as part of the Shaw Leadership program, I created a project called Lentes Para Gente (Glasses for the People.) I coordinated an eyeglass donation drive and sent the glasses to people in Juarez, Mexico. This year, as part of an educational trip with campus ministry, I brought glasses to El Salvador myself. I'm also involved in the Organization of Latin American Affairs, the Emerging Leader Program, and student government. I'd like to use what I've learned at BC by working for the legislative office or lobbying firm that helps Latino women and children.
