I was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and came to the US when I was about 5. At BC I adapted pretty quickly to my surroundings. Learning about other people's cultures really helped me. I was attracted to BC because of the city, but the fencing program reeled me in - I practice every day and compete on weekends. I do public relations work for the Jamaican Club; I'm also captain of the Independent Step Group that my roommates and I founded my freshman year. My advice is to try not to be close-minded. Reaching out to people is the best thing you can do.
